Drug Side Effects
In addition to being illegal, the following substances produce
severe drug side effects.

When someone smokes marijuana, THC rapidly passes from the lungs
into the bloodstream and on to the brain, causing problems with
memory, learning, perception, thinking, problem solving and coordination.
Drug Side Effects: Inhalants
When inhaled via the nose or mouth into the lungs in sufficient
concentrations, inhalants can cause heart failure and death within
minutes of use. Chronic abuse of solvents can cause severe, long-term
damage to the brain, liver and kidneys.
Drug Side Effects: Methamphetamine
Methamphetamine adversely affects the central nervous system, causing
increased wakefulness, physical activity and respiration, decreased
appetite, hyperthermia, euphoria, insomnia, tremors, convulsions,
anxiety, paranoia and aggressiveness.
Drug Side Effects: Cocaine/Crack
Effects of cocaine use include constricted peripheral blood vessels,
dilated pupils, increased temperature, heart rate and blood pressure,
irritability, anxiety, increased tolerance, aggressive paranoid
behavior, cardiac arrest or seizures followed by respiratory arrest.
Drug Side Effects: Prescription Drugs
Long-term abuse of prescription drugs can lead to physical dependence
and addiction; withdrawal symptoms may include restlessness, muscle
pain, insomnia, diarrhea, vomiting, cold flashes and involuntary
leg movements. Overdose of these drugs can be fatal.
Drug Side Effects: Acid/LSD
The physical effects of LSD include dilated pupils, higher body
temperature, increased heart rate and blood pressure, sweating,
loss of appetite, sleeplessness, dry mouth, tremors, delusions and
visual hallucinations.

blood pressure, depression anxiety and paranoia. GHB may produce

and potentially fatal respiratory problems. When mixed with alcohol,
Rohypnol can incapacitate victims and prevent them from resisting
sexual assault.
Drug Side Effects: Heroin
